Welcome to our dance family! If you are receiving this email, you are signed up for one or more of our 2023-2024 season dance classes! We are so happy you are here and can't wait to dance with you!

There's lots of information listed in this email. Please read through it entirely and let us know if you have any questions.

OPEN HOUSE (a little different than in the past)

The studio will be open on the following days for our fall open house:

Tuesday, August 29 from 4:30-7:30pm

Wednesday, August 30 from 4:30-7:30pm

Thursday, August 31 from 4:30-7:30pm

You may come by during any of these time slots to see our dance space, meet your teacher, and pay dues before the first day of class. We will also go over class details and what the dance year will entail.

At the open house, we will have the dancer's closet available. We will also have spirit wear, dance bags, leotards, tights, and more for sale.

Open house is not required, but we recommend attending to help the first week of classes run smoothly for everyone!

GEARING UP FOR DANCE CLASS

It is very important that your dancer has the appropriate dancewear for their class. Please find your class/age group below for your required list of dance attire. If you have questions, please let us know!

(Varies for each student- please see class description for required attire)

Other dancer expectations:

Hair secured in a ponytail and out of face

Ready to listen and learn

A smile and good attitude

Please write name in all dance shoes prior to the first class

Please use the restroom before class to help with fewer disruptions

KDC does not allow midriff or crop tops to be worn alone. Please wear a leotard under them if you choose to wear them.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions about what your dancer needs.

STUDIO GUIDELINES AND EXPECTATIONS:

• All of our classes will meet at 112 South Main Street, Downtown Kernersville. Please use our back door. Our front door is our wheelchair accessible entrance only.

• Dancer drop-off- Please arrive on time for class. Classes will start right on time. Have your dance attire and shoes on BEFORE class.

• Please make sure your dancer uses the bathroom right BEFORE class. *Especially our little dancers!** This helps with fewer disruptions during classes.

• Parents may watch from the lobby or run an errand. Please do not stand and watch at the front windows. Please keep your volume down in the lobby.

• Please be respectful of others in the lobby and our surrounding businesses. Please watch your children.

• All children must be accompanied by an adult in the lobby.

• Remember to throw away any trash outside or inside. Thank you for helping us keep our space clean.

• After class, dancers are not permitted to exit the lobby without an adult. If someone other than you is picking them up, PLEASE let us know. We want to keep everyone safe. Please be on time to pick up your dancer. If a child is not picked up on time, they will remain with the teacher until a parent arrives.

• If a class enrollment drops to less than 3, KDC has the option to cancel that class. If this happens, students may be asked to join another class.

• Attendance is important. We understand that sickness and other events come up. Excessive unexcused absences may require payment and scheduling of private lessons.

• We expect our dancers and parents to be kind and respectful to one another.

• Parents, we ask that you please represent our studio in a positive way. Children learn from what they hear and see so we ask that you set a good example.

REGISTRATION FEE AND MONTHLY TUITION:

REGISTRATION FEE

There is a non-refundable registration fee due at the time of registration of $15.00 for a single dancer or $20.00 for families with 2+ dancers.

You may pay with cash, check, credit card through your online account, or Venmo.

MONTHLY TUITION

Tuition is due on the FIRST class of every month. You can pay with cash, check, credit card through your online account, or Venmo. Please be prompt with your payment.

We will send you a monthly statement, but you can also log on to your account at any time to view your balance.

 2022-2023 Tuition Rates are as follows:

(Tuition is based on the total amount of instructional time the dancer takes every week)

45 minutes: $45/month

1 hour: $52/month

1.25 hour: $60/month

1.5 hour: $65/month

1.75 hour: $80/month

2 hours: $88/month

2.25 hours: $100/month

*Our Performance Troupe classes are not included in the hourly tuition rate. Performance Troupe classes are an additional $25.00 per month/per student. 

There is a $10.00 late fee applied after the 15th of every month.

There is a $37.00 returned check fee.

RECITAL

Recital is optional but recommended!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Our Spring 2023 Recitals will be held on Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18- more details to come on your class's assigned show time.

If you choose to participate in the recital, you are responsible for the costume fee which is estimated at $85.00-$95.00 per dancer, for each class they attend. We try to keep our costs down as much as possible, but as with everything, the costs from costume companies are rising. There is also a $30.00 FAMILY production fee. The production fee will help cover the cost of the recital venue, props, and stage help. No tickets will be sold, anyone can attend.

There isn't a penalty for not participating in the recital. All dancers will learn the choreography and participate in all dance classes leading up to the end of our dance season.

The costume fee is due in October 2023 and the production fee will be due by April 22, 2024.

You will receive an invoice before both payments are due. A $10.00 late fee will be applied after the due date.

WEATHER POLICY

KDC will NOT follow the WSFCS inclement weather decision. You will receive an email and/or text about our decision to cancel or hold a class in case of snow, etc. We will also post on social media in the event that we close for any reason as well.
 

MAKE-UP CLASSES

If you miss a class due to sickness, vacation, etc. you may schedule a make-up time. Tuition will not be prorated if you miss a class. Please contact the office at 336-580-3295 to schedule a make-up class.
 

KDC DANCER'S CLOSET- FREE CONSIGNMENT DANCEWEAR PROGRAM

If you have any gently used dance clothes or shoes, please consider donating to the program. 

Anyone is welcome to shop the closet. There is no fee for the items but please only take what you need.

The closet is open every day during classes. Please do not take the hangers.
